Dedication

I was checking sitemeter stats for my jewelry blog and there was a banner ad for monster.com. (A job networking site.)

The ad had a portrait photo of a glowing black woman, Tamra. And a quotation which read "I will dedicate my life to promoting literacy in children and adults."

Every day, and multiple times a day, I dedicate the efforts and the fruition of my practice to the benefit of all beings. That statement is real to me. And there are many many moments when I feel that dedication connecting up to something or someone in a very concrete way.

But there is a crispness, a directness in Tamra's quote that I don't feel in my own path. And I would like to have it.

Something to think about.

Body Prayer

After waiting and longing for sunny days, my strangely favorite new place is a dark room with blankets to rest under.

Headaches, pre-migraine auras, nausea and an inexplicable sense of anxiety are what send me there in the worst moments.

But in the best moments, I somehow realize that being with my body, and just being with my body is what I most want to do.

As someone who finds it hard to stay grounded in my body, these hours are a revelation. I'm present in a way I'm not used to being. And I like it.
